22 Dec PICASSO Illustrateur > Musée des beaux-arts de Tourcoing, France > October 19, 2019 – January 13, 2020
Picasso is exhibiting close to Belgium. The Tourcoing Museum of Fine Arts (MUBA) reveals a lesser-known aspect of the artist’s work: illustration. It is also, in partnership with the National Picasso Museum in Paris, to show the artist at the center of a galaxy of creators of his time.
“The“ Picasso Illustrator ”exhibition opens up the question of text and image in Picasso’s work: from commissioned work to engaging work – press drawings; through free and poetic work.
Between classicism and extreme modernity, eternal inventor and eternal player, Picasso also knew how to venture on the most singular or modest supports and experiment them: envelopes, postcards, bricks, ceramics, sheet metal, tablecloths, cut or torn paper, magazine…
The exhibition is a comparison of all his teeming explorations with the major works of the artist, in painting, sculpture or ceramic. A thematic, transversal and multidisciplinary exhibition where all the artistic mediums that the artist has explored throughout his career intersect. »
